چکیده

The PRAETORIAN trial showed that the subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator (S-ICD) is noninferior to transvenous ICD (TV-ICD) with respect device-related complications and inappropriate shocks in a conventional population. Nevertheless, type of underlying mechanism for differ between devices. Earlier studies have reported decrease quality life (QoL) patients or complications. It unknown if there difference QoL devices general, whether are associated same burden both arms. This prespecified analysis compares impact S-ICD TV-ICD on investigates cause device-specific reduction QoL. In trial, 849 were randomized (n=426) (n=423) therapy. was prospectively measured at baseline, discharge 12 30 months after implant, by measuring cardiac-specific physical functioning Duke Activity Status Index (DASI) psychological well-being 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36, divided 8 subscales). Appropriate sensing of ventricular fibrillation after failed shocks in a transvenous cardioverter-defibrillator system.

BACKGROUND Reduction in R-wave amplitude immediately after defibrillation shocks in an integrated shock/sense transvenous cardioverter-defibrillator (TCD) lead system has prompted concerns regarding adequate sensing after failed shocks. We therefore studied redetection characteristics for ventricular fibrillation after unsuccessful defibrillation shocks in a TCD system to determine if these obs...

Long-Term Clinical Outcomes of Subcutaneous Versus Transvenous Implantable Defibrillator Therapy.

BACKGROUND Transvenous implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (TV-ICDs) improve survival in patients at risk for sudden cardiac death, but complications remain an important drawback. The subcutaneous ICD (S-ICD) was developed to overcome lead-related complications. Comparison of clinical outcomes of both device types in previous studies was hampered by dissimilar patient characteristics. OBJ...

Multiple shocks after upgrade of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator to a cardiac resynchronization therapy-defibrillator device.

Inappropriate shocks from implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) may occur for many reasons. Inappropriate shocks are not simply painful inconveniences for patients; they also may result in the need for further operative procedures, and sometimes even death. Herein, we report the case of a patient who after upgrade of an ICD to a cardiac resynchronization therapy-defibrillator device (C...
